Cambridge City Council has given planning permission for the northern part of the monumental sculpture which is to be sited alongside the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge.

The sculpture is made of two large pieces of smooth British oak representing the mould from which the stainless steel needle, to be sited in the South, is made.

The Trust has carried out a underground survey and is now commissioning the design of the base to support the sculpture.
