Felicity Aston arrived at the South Pole in difficult weather on 20 December after 26 days skiing from Ross Ice Shelf on her own. She reports in her latest comment that she is with friends and now well fed!

The South Pole is a staging post on her way to the Ronne Ice Shelf in her attempt to become the first woman to ski solo across the Antarctic. She has travelled 535km of the 1700km trek leaving her more than two thirds of the journey yet to accomplish.

She is keeping in touch by twitter and by satellite phone. You can see her progress on the Kaspersky One website and read her tweets and listen to her daily commentary.

She is raising money for the British Antarctic Monument Trust with a target of £1700 - a pound for every kilometre walked. So far she has raised £378 plus £84.50 Gift Aid. Please give generously through her Just Giving website in order to help her meet her target.
